What started in the dining room of my three-bedroom apartment in 2022 as a way to create income while raising my three children has grown into Whitney Made It - a brand built around bold doormats, creativity, teaching, and bringing people together. Whether you're here to shop, learn, or create something with me, you're in the right place.

Where it all started

It wasn’t some big business plan. My kids’ grandmother suggested I look into making doormats, so I did what I normally do when something catches my attention — I started researching and decided to give it a try.

I was working right out of the dining room of my three-bedroom apartment, with three little kids running around and supplies taking over the space. I had no clue how far any of it would actually go.

Then I got my first sale.

People started liking, sharing and responding to the mats I posted, and that was enough for me to think, okayyy… we might actually have something here. 😂

So I kept going. One mat turned into more orders, more ideas and eventually something much bigger than what I imagined when I first started.

From one doormat to a whole lot more.

I started with finished doormats, but it didn’t stop there. People kept asking how I made them, how I created my stencils, and whether I could teach the process. So I listened.

Those questions eventually turned into stencils, teaching, DIY kits, tutorials, and later, Paint & Sip experiences.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I really enjoy helping people figure this stuff out. I’ve never been big on gatekeeping. If I know something that can help somebody create, grow, or even make money of their own, I’m happy to teach it.

Whitney Made It eventually grew beyond just what I could create and ship from home. Paint & Sip gave me a chance to bring that creativity off the screen and into a room full of people.

Hosting these events pushed me outside of my comfort zone, but it also showed me how much I enjoy creating spaces where people can laugh, make something with their own hands, and connect with each other.

Some people come for a fun experience. Some leave wanting to learn more. Either way, I love that Whitney Made It can bring people together in real life — not just through an order showing up at somebody’s doorstep.

That part of this business means a lot to me.

What makes Whitney Made It different?

By this point, you can probably tell Whitney Made It isn’t about making the same thing everybody else is making. I love designs that make people laugh, say “that is SO me,” or stop at the door before they even knock.

The mats can be bold, funny, faith-filled, cultural, a little rude, completely custom, or whatever fits the person and the home. That personality is a big part of what makes this brand mine.

And because I’m the person behind the entire process, it still feels personal. Whether I’m painting a finished mat, cutting a stencil, packing an order, or teaching a class, there’s a real person behind it from beginning to end.

  • I ship them.

Why I keep going

Running a business has had its ups and downs, but I keep coming back to Whitney Made It because ownership means a lot to me. I love knowing that I’m building something that belongs to me and creating opportunities on my own terms.

Entrepreneurship has always been around me, so that desire to build for myself has always been there. Every order, class, event, and new idea is another piece of something I get to grow and shape for the future.

A big part of that future is freedom — the flexibility to be present for my family, the ability to create income in a way that works for my life, and the chance to build something my children can look back on and know came from me.

I don’t need every chapter to look the same. I just know I want to keep creating, keep growing, and keep seeing how far Whitney Made It can go. 💕

So what does Whitney Made It mean to me?

Freedom. Creativity. Community. And building something that belongs to me.

Whitney Made It may keep growing and changing, but the heart of it stays the same: creating with personality, helping people learn, bringing people together, and building something that belongs to me. I’m excited to see what this grows into next. 💕
